Vibhav Mittal is a judge of the Superior Court of Orange County in California. Mittal assumed office in 2021. Mittal's current term ends on January 8, 2029.
Mittal won re-election for judge of the Superior Court of Orange County in California outright in the primary on June 7, 2022, after the primary and general election were canceled.
Gov. Gavin Newsom (D) appointed Mittal to the court on September 3, 2021, to replace Ronald Lawrence Bauer.[1]
Although California Superior Court judges are elected in nonpartisan elections, a press release from Gov. Newsom's office announcing Mittal's appointment on September 3, 2021, identified him as a Democrat.
Biography
Mittal received his J.D. from the New York University School of Law. From 2008 to 2009, he was an Associate at Quinn Emanuel LLP. From 2009 to 2010, Mittal served as a Law Clerk for Amul Thapar at the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Kentucky. In 2010, he worked as a Field Organizer and Campaign Fellow for the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee. Since 2011, he has served as an Assistant U.S. Attorney at the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Central District of California, where he has also served as a Deputy Chief since 2019.[2]
