Vicki Truitt
Vicki Truitt is a former Republican member of the Texas House of Representatives, representing District 98 from 1999 to 2013.
Truitt owns a small health care consulting company focusing on medical staff development. She has worked on the medical staff of John Peter Smith Hospital, in Administration at Parkland Memorial Hospital, and as a physician recruiter.
Truitt is a member of the Arts Council of Northeast Tarrant County, the Northeast Leadership Forum, Metroport Meals on Wheels Board, Rotary's Interact Club Advisor, Rotary International Exchange Students Hostess, Rotary Paul Harris Fellow, and sits on the Executive Board of the Texas Office for Prevention of Developmental Disabilities.[1]

- HB 1140 - Relating to a franchise tax credit for the purchase and installation of solar energy devices connected to an electric transmission or distribution system.
- HB 1158 - Relating to an enhanced penalty for an operator who commits certain traffic offenses while using a wireless communication device.
- HB 1875 - Relating to requiring a health benefit plan for enrollment at certain public institutions of higher education.
- HB 3942 - Relating to a pilot test of an advanced control technology for the reduction of nitrogen oxides emissions.[2]
Issues
Ethics
In 2008 the Texas Ethics Commission determined Truitt had violated Election Code. A civil penalty of $5,300 was imposed for the following infractions:[3]
- Failing to properly report political expenditures made with a credit card
- Failing to properly report and improperly reimbursing political expenditures from personal funds
- Improperly reporting political expenditures as reimbursements
Pension reform
In the 2011 session, Truitt brought HB 2731 to the House Pensions, Investments and Financial Services Committee, seeking to impose several stringent rules regarding how and by whom municipal pension funds are managed and reported.
Mayor Mike Moncrief wrote a letter to Rep. Truitt to express his concerns over that pension reform bill that would demand increased oversight of municipal pension systems around the state.
Fort Worth officials implemented various changes to the city’s pension system in 2007 and claims that additional rules and oversight in 2011 might interfere with efforts to reign in increasing pension costs. Among the reforms enacted were several benefit reductions for future hires and unvested employees.[4]

2012
Truitt ran in the 2012 election for Texas House of Representatives, District 98. She was defeated in the primary election on May 29, 2012 by Giovanni Capriglione. The race was a rematch from a primary from 2010[5].[6][7]

2010
Truitt won re-election in District 98. She defeated Giovanni Capriglione, Rich DeOtte, and Diane Thorpe in the March 2 Republican primary and faced no opposition in the November 2 general election.[8]

2008
On November 4, 2008, Truitt won re-election to the Texas House of Representatives from Texas' 98th District, defeating Nancy Moffat (D) and Stephen Smith (L). Truitt received 68,345 votes in the election while Moffat received 25,855 votes, and Smith received 2,845 votes.[9] Truitt raised $430,640 for her campaign; Moffat raised $10,661.[10]
