General: She was defeated in the general election on May 20, 2014, after receiving 21.8 percent of the vote. She competed against Andrew B. Roper, Charles Morris and Meng H. Lim.

Atkins received her B.S. degree from Kennesaw State College in 1986 and her J.D. from Atlanta Law School in 1990.[3]
Career
Atkins was a sole practitioner and an attorney for the firm Cox Byington, P.C. She has also served as the municipal court judge for Rockmart, Georgia.[3]
