Victor Hernandez is a former member of the Lubbock City Council in Texas, representing District 1. He served from 1993 to 2004, and then returned to city council from 2010 to 2016. He resigned in 2016 in order to run for mayor.[1] Hernandez survived a recall election in 2013. Read more about the recall attempt here.

Hernandez was a 2016 nonpartisan candidate for mayor of Lubbock. He was defeated in the general election on May 7, 2016.

Hernandez holds a B.B.A from the University of Texas, El Paso and a J.D. from Texas Tech University. His professional experience includes working as an attorney and owning his own law practice, Victor Hernandez Law Offices.

Hernandez served in the U.S. Army and is a veteran of Operation Desert Storm.[1]

The city of Lubbock, Texas, held elections for mayor and city council on May 7, 2016. The filing deadline for candidates wishing to run in this election was February 19, 2016. Four of six council seats were up for election on the same day, the three regularly-scheduled for election and District 1, which was up for a special election. Two of them were up for runoff election on June 25, 2016, including the District 1 seat.[2] Dan Pope defeated Todd Klein, Victor Hernandez, and Ysidro Gutierrez in the Mayor of Lubbock general election.[3]
