I was born at Kessler Air Force Base in Biloxi, Mississippi. After early childhood years spent in Germany and then at Mchord Air Force Base, our family settled in the Puyallup area. I learned that community isn’t just a place it’s where you plant your feet and fight for what matters.

As a young single mother putting myself through nursing school, I discovered the grit that would carry me through decades of entrepreneurship. For 43 years my husband and I have built and sometimes rebuilt multiple businesses, weathering every economic storm. Those experiences- coupled with 16 years as a construction company credit manager- taught me the non negotiable value of GAAP accounting, contract compliance, and fiscal vigilance. At 15, I got my first horse a $150 Tennessee Walking prompting a life long passion for these magnificent creatures. It takes care and discipline - a metaphor for how I approach every challenge. Prepare thoroughly, act decisively, and always follow through.

I came to Winlock in 2012 and with 9 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren I am invested in Winlock’s future.
  • A mayors first responsibility is to be a faithful steward of taxpayer dollars.

I will bring much needed disciplined fiscal leadership, using GAAP standards as required by law. Per the Washington State Auditor report of Winlock, “bank statement records did not match amounts reported on financial statements therefore we (SAO) were unable to evaluate the fair presentation of cash balances” The audit isn’t just paperwork-it was a warning. My administration will treat taxpayer money with the seriousness it deserves.

    Taxpayer dollars deserve rigorous protection.
  • Transparency: As your mayor, I’ll bring transparency to city hall- clear standards, no shadows. My 16 years managing finances and contract compliance taught me: trust comes from proof. I will automatically publish legally allowed financials, budgets, permits, and contract's. I will also implement a citizen friendly Winlock Permit Status Board to be updated weekly. Transparency isn’t about blame - it is about building systems so good they inspire confidence. I’ll work with staff to make Winlock a model of open government. Where taxpayers see where their dollars go and Decisions happen in daylight.
  • Build a Safer Winlock Many neighborhoods and roads lack sidewalks and adequate playgrounds… I will aggressively pursue all funding opportunities to help the citizens and children of Winlock… the needs of development have superseded those of citizens… Running a transparent city will alleviate many issues including exorbitant lawyer fees…
I am excited to get the community to once again trust and respect their representative government. I am hopeful that with transparency, the hopelessness of the citizens will be transformed into participation and pride in our little town.
The fundamental duty of any elected official is service to the people- this principle must guide every decision and action. While we must work constructively with Government agencies, developers, and other stakeholders, their interests can never supersede our obligation to the public good.
True service requires more than good intentions; it demands transparency in governance- clearly explaining not just what decisions are made, but why they are made. When citizens understand the reasoning behind actions that affect their community, trust is built, accountability is strengthened, and democracy thrives.
Two of the most defining days of my life, both fell on the 18th in May and January-two years apart. On May 18, 1980, as a 24 year old camping at Ocean Shores, I heard My St. Helens erupt with a roar that shook our campsite. We naively as young adults didn’t realize how far the disaster would reach until gray ash began falling. Soon everything was covered. As we attempted to leave town it became clear that the ash would overwhelm our vehicles, so we all used pantyhose to stretch over car carburetors so we could attempt the harrowing drive home.

But my true test came on January 18, 1982 during a sailing regatta on Puget Sound. When our boat capsized in freezing waters, we spent 90 minutes fighting for life in the frigid waves - a survival story that made the local papers. The real miracle was that my fiancé (now husband of 43 years) refusing to let go of me and my friend, even when the USS Orleck miraculously arrived. The crew was already prepped for performing man overboard drills and they popped right into flawless action, prying my unconscious body from his arms. He wouldn’t surrender until he knew we were safe, though he could have saved himself by swimming away earlier. I knew then that I would marry this man who valued others’ lives above his own.

These twin crucibles forged my unshakable beliefs. That God intervenes even in our darkest hours (through miracles like the Orlecks timely arrival), that true character is revealed under pressure, and that leadership means holding onto others when the storm hits. As Winlock faces its own challenges - from growth pressure to financial strains - I’ll bring this same spirit of faith, resilience and selfless service. Because a community’s strength isn’t measured in sunny days, but how we weather the storms together
Winlock faces three critical challenges as one of Lewis County’s fastest growing cities:

(1) Declining public trust due
to opaque development decisions.
(2) School overcrowding from rapid growth without proportional funding, and
(3) Inconsistent enforcement of building codes.
My solutions start with mandatory online publishing of all allowable permits and decisions, in a weekly ’Winlock Permit Status Board’
I will partner with the Winlock School Board to update impact fees under state law. I will also publish a monthly ‘Growth Impact Report’ showing developer obligations met/missed.

Transparency and creativity can rebuild trust even in tight times.
