Activist attending/participating in almost all city council, school board, planning commission and Town Hall meetings since 2017. Independent supporting/answering to the people over power, payola, political parties, privilege. Outspoken against school overcrowding, corruption, tax raises of any kind that don't go to schools first, economic development "grants" before school/public works funding, decisions not made in the best interests of the people and for minority/small business creation, gun rights. Priorities are: traffic/roads, schools, public works projects. Well researched argument presentation. I've stood for stopping the JJJC, Frank T. Williams, Culpepper Landing 5/7, Etheridge area, Fernwood Farms area developments, partial Western Branch's The Grove area based on citizen comments, based on traffic/school overcrowding. I don't work in a position where I can utilize being an elected official to further my own business/non profit ventures. My voting record spans 20+ years, living in Chesapeake for over 20+ years. Would take $2K 2018 raise and split between WB Philanthropy, Dr. Cottons' trade scholarships, and ForKids/South Norfolk.
  • People over political parties, payola, power, and privilege.
  • Priorities are traffic/roads, school funding, public works projects funding, rec centers.
  • Stop corruption, decisions not made in the best interests of the people, transparency in govt./FOIA violations.
FOIA/transparency, boards/commissions, traffic/roads, development, schools.
Jesus Christ, Paul of The Bible, Mahatma Gandhi, Dr. Walter E. Willams, Dr. Thomas Sowell, Dr. Mae Jamison, Julian Bond. South Norfolk Civic League. Brenda Johnson. Western Branch Philanthropy. These people all made major changes in the lives of followers and non followers, by their thoughts and being willing to stand up for their cause and make a difference. I may not agree with all the stances they have taken, but I admire the courage they possess to do so.
Standing up for what is right in the eyes of the people. Lack of ties that prevents anything from getting in the way of the first.
Loyalty to the people, lack of political party ties, proven resistance to anything that subjects the peoples' interests to special interests. Willingness to take a stand, even among a majority influenced to another decision.
Budget, making connections to various departments. Not being corruptable. Answering to the public.
That I did what I could for the people.
IT federal contractor position for one year.
The Bible. Most influenced the decisions in my life.
Appointing boards and commissions is an area where people need to know the background of who is being appointed.
No, we need fresh eyes and minds that are not into making politics a career. We've had folks come in with less public speaking and interaction with civic folks than I have, and make it on council.
Loyalty to the people and not to any other entity or person or re election campaigns.
