I am a grandson and son of union members. My mother was a proud member of the CWA. And my family taught me that we are all in this together. And looking out for each other isn’t a choice, it’s a responsibility. As the husband of a school teacher and proud father of two college age girls, my wife and I have taught our children the same, we are all in this together. I am running for Congress because it is clear that politicians in Washington aren’t working for regular folks. The people who keep our families strong and our communities running are being pushed aside so billionaires and corporations can get another tax break. Let’s lift up regular folks, put them in the spotlight – our teachers, workers and seniors – and let’s work to solve the problems to make life better for all of us. In Congress, I will fight to make life more affordable for everyday Tennesseans. That means cracking down on the big corporations that are driving up housing costs, lowering the cost of healthcare and prescription drugs, and ensuring that every family can pay their bills, see a doctor, and live
  • Affordable Housing: Families in Tennessee are getting priced out of the neighborhoods they grew up in while Wall Street hedge funds buy up entire blocks of homes. That’s not a free market — that’s a rigged game. I’ll fight to stop corporate landlords from driving up rents, expand access to affordable housing, and make sure every family has a fair shot at owning a home.
  • Affordable and Accessible Child Care: Too many parents are working two jobs but still can’t find affordable, safe childcare. That keeps families struggling and holds our economy back. I’ll push for policies that lower childcare costs, support childcare providers, and make sure every parent can go to work knowing their kids are safe and cared for.
  • Affordable and Accessible Healthcare: Hospitals are closing and access to quality healthcare shouldn’t depend on your bank account or your zip code. I’ve seen firsthand how broken the system is — from my own family’s battles with diabetes and cancer. I’ll work to lower drug costs, protect Medicare and Medicaid, and expand coverage so nobody goes bankrupt just because they get sick.
Health Care, Housing, Child Care, Livable Wages
I am running for Congress because politicians in Washington have lost the plot on regular folks. As Congressman, I’ll work to lower the cost of groceries, healthcare and housing. I will call out corruption and put people and their needs over politics. Let’s enable everyone - black, white, brown, LGBTQ, women, men and people with disabilities to live safely and love who they chose. And I’ll fight cuts to Medicare and Medicaid and protect Social Security. That’s the plot, that’s what people want Congress to do. Not look after billionaires and corporations - they don’t need any more help. I won’t forget the plot!

Scorecards

See also: State legislative scorecards and State legislative scorecards in Tennessee

A scorecard evaluates a legislator’s voting record. Its purpose is to inform voters about the legislator’s political positions. Because scorecards have varying purposes and methodologies, each report should be considered on its own merits. For example, an advocacy group’s scorecard may assess a legislator’s voting record on one issue while a state newspaper’s scorecard may evaluate the voting record in its entirety.

Ballotpedia is in the process of developing an encyclopedic list of published scorecards. Some states have a limited number of available scorecards or scorecards produced only by select groups. It is Ballotpedia’s goal to incorporate all available scorecards regardless of ideology or number.

Click here for an overview of legislative scorecards in all 50 states. To contribute to the list of Tennessee scorecards, email suggestions to editor@ballotpedia.org.
