Noteworthy events

Sgueglia issued ensure (2012)

In August 2012, Judge Sgueglia accepted a censure from the New York Commission on Judicial Conduct after issuing himself a permit to carry a fireman. Though the judge was the only individual in Tioga County to authorize permits, it was expected that he would find another judge to issue this permit. The commission censured the judge for routinely bringing his firearms into the courtroom, and accidentally discharging one in his chambers during a cleaning. Judge Sgueglia accepted the censure, but stated that he was acting solely to defend himself from threats.[2]
