Vincent Torpy
Vincent G. Torpy, Jr. was a judge on the Florida Fifth District Court of Appeal from 2003 to 2018. He was appointed by Governor Jeb Bush (R) in January 2003 and was retained by voters in 2004, 2010, and 2016.[1][2] He retired on December 31, 2018.[3]
Education
Torpy graduated from Brevard Community College in 1980 and from the University of Central Florida the following year. He received his J.D. from Florida State University College of Law in 1983. Before college, Torpy graduated from the police academy in Brevard County and was a police officer for the Town of Indialantic.[1]
Career
Torpy began his legal career as an associate attorney with the law firm Peirsol, Boroughs, Grimm, Bennett & Griffin, P.A. In 1986, he became a partner in the firm Frese, Nash & Torpy, P.A. Gov. Jeb Bush appointed Torpy to the Circuit Court of Brevard County in 1999. He held this position until his appointment to the court of appeal in 2003.[1]
