An effort to recall Mayor Vinny Mosca in Harahan, Louisiana from his position was launched in October 2013.[1] Petitioners failed to collect enough signatures to move the recall forward.[2]
Background
Matt Wellman announced his intention to recall the mayor on October 2, 2013. The recall effort sprang from contentious debate surrounding a proposed commercial development. Wellman and others opposed the development, while Mosca had voiced support for the project.[1]

A notice of intent to recall was filed on October 3, 2013. As of January 8, 2014, city councilman Eric Chatelain estimated that about 200 signatures had been gathered, well short of the 2,277 required to place the recall on a ballot. Wellman, who filed the original intent to recall, refused to comment on the recall effort and instead referred questions to Susan Benton, whom Wellman said was now responsible for the effort.[1] Supporters did not collect enough signatures to move the recall forward.[2]
