Bernero was considered a potential Democratic candidate for Governor of Michigan until March of 2013, when he announced his decision not to challenge Republican incumbent Rick Snyder to a rematch in the 2014 election. Snyder defeated Bernero in 2010.[2] Bernero had also explored possible bids for U.S. House and Senate, but ultimately decided not to run for either office.[3]
2010
Bernero defeated Andy Dillon in the August 3 primary by a margin of 58.5 percent to 41.5 percent.
Bernero faced Rick Snyder (R), Harley Mikkelseon (G), Ken Procter (L) and Stacey Mathia (U.S. Taxpayers) in the general election on November 2, 2010.[4]
