Virginia governor establishes new regulatory agency, cost-benefit analysis standards (2022)
Virginia Governor Glenn Youngkin (R) on June 30, 2022, issued an executive order that aimed to reduce regulatory burdens by 25% and promote transparency in the regulatory process, according to the text. The order established the Office of Regulatory Management, modeled after the Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs (OIRA), and directed the office to implement new cost-benefit analysis standards.[1][2]
Gov. Youngkin said in a statement that “we have created the Office of Regulatory Management, led by Andrew Wheeler, which will create much needed transparency and efficiency in Virginia’s regulatory process to ensure that we have a government that works for the citizens of the Commonwealth.”[3]
