Vivian Scheibel is the Position 7 representative on the Alvin Independent School District board of trustees in Texas. First elected in 2014, Scheibel won an additional term after running unopposed in the general election on Alvin Independent School District elections (2017)|May 6, 2017.

Scheibel earned her B.S. in secondary education from Texas A&M University in 1989. She has worked in the IT industry since 1999 and currently works as a solutions specialist with AppSense.[1]

2017

Two seats on the Alvin Independent School District school board were scheduled for general election on May 6, 2017. Due to lack of opposition, the election was canceled and Place 6 incumbent Earl Humbird and Place 7 incumbent Vivian Scheibel were automatically elected to another term.[2]

Results

Due to lack of opposition the election was canceled, and Scheibel was automatically re-elected to another term.

  • Proactively accommodate growth in AISD so that overcrowding and re-zoning do not negatively impact our children.
  • AISD Citizen Committees should be given more independence when they perform their advisory duties.
  • Conduct “mobile” Board Meetings so that the entire district can be engaged and participate in our children’s education.
  • Expand Board Meeting broadcasts to include Board Workshops.
  • Investigate implementing member districts for AISD School Board to better ensure that each area of our district is provided direct representation.
  • Work to ensure that AISD campuses have equal opportunities to offer extra-curricular activities based on individual campus needs and interest.

  • Implement surveys and publish the results to inform campus staff and district stakeholders about key areas of performance:

  • Maintain fiscal responsibility and continually seek improved fiscal efficiencies with our taxpayer dollars.

  • Support district initiatives to raise SAT/ACT scores by offering a semester long prep course.
  • Significantly and rapidly expand the proposed Engaged Learning Model/Project Based Learning across our campuses.

  • Increase the number of students who achieve college graduation/technical certification post high school graduation.
  • Raise and continue to raise our standards for excellence.
  • Provide better reporting on meeting achievement goals.
