Wyoming: Justice Barton Voigt has announced that he will be leaving the Wyoming Supreme Court on January 3, 2014. He was first appointed to the state's highest court by former Governor Jim Geringer in 2001. He was last retained in 2010, so his term was not set to expire until 2018. When asked his reasons for leaving, Voigt explained, "It's a combination of age, of health, of energy — of just a lot of factors."[1]
The Wyoming Judicial Nominating Commission now begins the process of selecting a replacement. The commission will recommend three candidates to Gov. Matt Mead, who will make the final appointment.[1]
