W. Greg Seigler
W. Greg Seigler is a family court judge for the Eleventh Judicial Circuit of South Carolina. He was elected by the South Carolina General Assembly in 2014 and re-elected in 2022.[1]
Education
Seigler received his B.A. from The Citadel-The Military College of South Carolina in 1996 and her J.D. from the University of South Carolina School of Law in 1999.[2]
Career
After graduating from law school, Judge Seigler returned to McCormick where he opened the Law Offices of W. Greg Seigler, Inc., and practiced as a solo practitioner in the areas of family law, criminal law, civil litigation, probate law, and real estate. In 2001, he was elected as McCormick County Bar President, a position he held until 2014. While in private practice, Judge Seigler served for 3 years as Chief Municipal Judge in the town of Calhoun Falls located in western Abbeville County. He also represented the South Carolina Guardian ad Litem Program, McCormick County Children's Home, and numerous municipalities in Greenwood and McCormick Counties. He was appointed Tri-County Public Defender in July, 2007, a position that was designated part-time until the implementation of the Circuit Public Defender System in 2008. Judge Seigler then accepted a full-time position as the Tri-County Public Defender, where he represented indigent clients charged with crimes in General Sessions Court, Family Court, and Magistrate's Court in the counties of McCormick, Saluda and Edgefield.[2]
