General: He was defeated in the general election on November 4, 2014, after receiving 35.5 percent of the vote. He competed against Janet Stumbo. [1] 

Education

Varney received his undergraduate degree from Eastern Kentucky University and his J.D. degree from the Ohio Northern University College of Law.[2]

Career

Varney works as an attorney in private practice in Pikeville, Kentucky.[2]
