W. Michael Shimeall (Democratic Party) ran for election to the Kansas House of Representatives to represent District 78. He lost in the general election on November 8, 2022.

Biography

Michael Shimeall was born in Topeka, Kansas. He served in the U.S. Army as a medic and earned a bachelor’s degree from Sterling College.

Shimeall’s career experience includes working as a history teacher at Milford High School in Nebraska and as a principal at LaCrosse High School in Kansas. He also worked as Associate Professor of Education at Emporia State University, Associate Superintendent in Lexington, Nebraska, and Superintendent of Southern Public Schools in Wymore, Nebraska. Shimeall served on the City Council of La Crosse, Kansas for three years and as Mayor for one year.[1]

Michael Shimeall was born in Topeka, Kansas, and attended Sterling College in Sterling, Kansas. A lifelong educator and leader, Dr. Shimeall has over 40 years of professional teaching and administrative experience.

Mike began his career as a History teacher at Milford High School in Nebraska where he taught for 16 years before becoming the principal at LaCrosse High School in Kansas. He went on to hold several other positions of academic leadership, working as Associate Professor of Education at Emporia State University, Associate Superintendent in Lexington, Nebraska, and Superintendent of Southern Public Schools in Wymore, Nebraska.

In addition to his academic background, Dr. Shimeall has dedicated his life to public service. Having served as a medic in the 326th Medical Battalion, 101st Airborne, in Vietnam, Dr. Shimeall knows the importance of supporting those who have served our country. Dr. Shimeall also served on the City Council of La Crosse, Kansas for 3 years, and held the office of Mayor for one year.


Dr. Shimeall hopes to leave behind a positive legacy for his 8 grandchildren, multiple of whom are helping hands for his campaign.
