This measure sought to issue a bond in the amount of $2 million in order to help pay for the Flood Control Project along the Coppei Creek. The bond money would have paid for flood walls, levees and other protection measures.[2]

The question on the ballot:
The City Council of the City of Waitsburg approved Resolution No. 2011-586 concerning a proposition to finance capital improvements related to flood protection from Coppei Creek. This proposition would authorize the city to pay the costs of a Flood Control Project along Coppei Creek including the installation of flood walls, levee and other flood protection activites; to issue not to exceed $2,000,000 of General Obligation Bonds maturing within a maximum term of 20 years to pay for such flood control and capital improvements; and levy annual excess property tax levies to pay and retire such bonds.[3] |
