Walker McGinis

Walker McGinis represents the District 4 seat on the Huntsville City Board of Education in Alabama. He first won election to the board in the general election on August 26, 2014.
Biography
McGinis has been an educator and principal in Huntsville City Schools for 36 years. He has received statewide recognition for improving test scores at Chapman Middle School and was named 2006 principal of the year by the Alabama Foreign Language Teachers Association. He is also a national speaker on special education issues.[1]

In the August 26, 2014 general election, Beth Wilder defeated Richard V. Buchanan for the District 2 seat and Walker McGinis defeated Kimberly Battle for the District 4 seat. Elisa Ferrell and Anson Knowles competed in a runoff election on October 7, 2014 for the District 3 seat. They defeated challengers Ellen Brusick, Kathie Rooker and Pat Sanders.

Funding
McGinis did not file a campaign finance report with the Alabama Secretary of State.[2]

McGinis was endorsed by former Deputy Superintendent Mary Ruth Yates, Columbia High School principal Greg Hicks, attorney and former board member Dough Martinson, former Grissom High School administrator Sonny Rooks, former Huntsville High School principal Jan Harris, former police chief and mayoral assistant Rex Reynolds and current school board member David Blair. McGinis ran for the District 4 seat in 2010, but was defeated by Jeanne Robinson.
