Wallace Coppedge is the presiding district judge on the 20th District Court in Marshall County. He was elected in 2010 and took office in January 2011.[1] He was re-elected in 2014 after running unopposed for a term that expired on January 13, 2019.[2]

Education

Coppedge received a B.A. from Oklahoma Baptist University, and a J.D. from Oklahoma City University.[3]

Noteworthy events

Coppedge faced calls for his removal from the bench in 2018 after he approved a plea agreement for a defendant who admitted to raping a 13-year-old girl. Under the terms of the plea agreement, the defendant did not serve any prison time. More than 102,000 people signed a petition directed to the Oklahoma Council on Judicial Complaints and the Oklahoma Bar Association calling for his removal. Oklahoma Representative Mike Ritze submitted a resolution in the Oklahoma House of Representatives that also called for Coppedge's removal.[4][5] Ritzel later announced he had put the resolution on hold to focus on other issues.[6]
