I am a native Wilmington resident a New Hanover High School graduate, and a graduate of UNC-Chapel Hill. My wife, Gail, and I raised our family in the Triangle area and returned to Wilmington in 2000 to be closer to what has always been home. My deep ties to the Wilmington/New Hanover County community. allow me to understand the unique needs and values of the people in District 18.

As a small business owner and a strong advocate for limited government and private property rights, I have spent my career championing the principles of personal freedom, responsibility, and self-reliance. The business Gail and I began in 2006, Carolina Streetscapes LLC, is a testament to our commitment to community, providing local amenities and supporting neighborhood development in North and South Carolina. My leadership in our family-run enterprise highlights my dedication to both my faith and my community.

Throughout my life, I have remained steadfast in my commitment to preserving the principles and freedoms foundational to our country. My experience in both the private and nonprofit sectors has equipped me with the practical wisdom and expertise necessary to represent District 18 effectively. As a write-in candidate for the North Carolina House, I seek to protect these values and serve the community I love, ensuring that every voice is heard, and every citizen is represented. I am dedicated to building a future that honors the past while looking ahead to the opportunities of tomorrow.
  • Strong families are the foundation of a strong community. I believe in creating policies that support family values, enhance education, and provide economic opportunities, ensuring a thriving and secure environment for all families in District 18.
  • I am committed to safeguarding the fundamental freedoms that are the bedrock of our nation. I will work to ensure that these rights are preserved for future generations, standing against any measures that threaten our constitutional liberties.
  • My goal is to foster vibrant, resilient communities by advocating for limited government and less regulation. I support initiatives that promote local businesses, protect property rights, and encourage civic engagement to build a better future for everyone.
Strong families are the foundation of thriving communities. I believe, much like a three-legged stool, that families need three key pillars to succeed: a vibrant economy, quality education, and public safety. A healthy economy provides stability, education equips future generations, and safety ensures secure neighborhoods. I am committed to strengthening these areas to ensure families and communities prosper. My campaign is dedicated to enhancing economic opportunities, improving educational resources, and ensuring public safety to build a secure and thriving future for not only Wilmington and New Hanover County but throughout this great state.
While it is difficult in today's politically charged climate to parse through the rhetoric and innuendo and discern the truth, I believe character, or if you prefer, integrity is the most important characteristic for an elected official. Secondly, elected officials that understand and hold a Biblical worldview more consistently strive for the common good versus self-interest and partisanship.

I am committed to representing not only District 18 but all North Carolinians with integrity and dedication, guided by the following core values based on the letters of the word PROTECT:

Principles: Uphold the foundational principles and values outlined in our nation and state’s founding documents; prioritize collaboration to find solutions that benefit the common good.

Respect: Show respect and civility toward colleagues and constituents; value diverse opinions and actively listen to others.

Openness: Commit to transparency in actions and decisions; foster open communication and honesty in all government dealings.

Tradition: Acknowledge and honor the historical traditions that have shaped our community and nation; use these traditions as a guide for future decisions.

Experience: Leverage practical experience and expertise to seek common-sense solutions; use long-term, data-driven analysis to assess the impact of legislative decisions.

Collaboration: Engage in meaningful collaboration across the aisle; work with others to achieve shared goals and address community needs.

Trust: Build trust by keeping promises, following through on commitments, and delivering reliable, effective results.
That I finished well!
Matthew 25:1; 2 Timothy 4:7-8; Hebrews 12:1-3
While there were several significant "historical firsts" that occurred during my early adolescent and teenage years, the first major historical event that is bookmarked in my mind forever was the assassination of President Kennedy. I vividly remember as a college student at UNC walking through the doors of the gymnasium for gym class and seeing a crowd of students gathered around the equipment room window listening to the news broadcast of the event. Much like 9-11, we were all captivated by what we were hearing and hungry for details. The world seemed to stop as all waited and prayed in the hope that President Kennedy's wounds were not fatal. Unfortunately, that was not to be the case.
My very first "paying" job was delivering newspapers. The reason I have the word "paying" in quotation marks is that at age 12, if you had a newspaper route, you effectively were self-employed. You purchased the newspapers from the publisher, delivered them and collected the money from those customers on your route. If individuals did not pay, you absorbed the loss not the publisher. My first route was an afternoon delivery. I learned quickly that morning routes were more lucrative and so as soon as one became available, I added that route. Later I was able to pick up a second morning route and dropped the afternoon route at that time.

When I was 14 or 15, I gave my newspaper route to a friend and began working weekends selling shoes at a local family shoe store. By the time I was in high school I had leveraged my retail experience to gain employment selling ladies shoes at an exclusive Wilmington lady's shoe store. I continued selling high end ladies' shoes wherever I lived throughout high school and college working at two different shoe stores during my last two years of college so that I could earn enough to pay for my college education from my earnings.
I believe it is vital to the legislative process to incorporate a diversity of knowledge, experience and wisdom into the debate.

As a small business owner and a strong advocate for limited government and private property rights, I have spent my career championing the principles of personal freedom, responsibility, and self-reliance. Further, throughout my life I have remained steadfast in my commitment to preserving the principles and freedoms foundational to our country.
