Waller Thomas Burns (Texas judge)
Waller Thomas Burns (1858-1917) was a federal judge on the United States District Court for the Southern District of Texas.
He was nominated by President Theodore Roosevelt on April 12, 1902 when a new seat was created by 32 Stat. 64, 65. He was confirmed by the Senate on April 24, 1902. He served until his death on November 17, 1917.[1] Burns was succeeded in this position by Joseph Chappell Hutcheson Jr.
Burns was the first judge appointed to serve for the Southern District of Texas at the time it was established in 1902.[2]
