Walter Blevins
Walter Blevins, Jr. (b. March 29, 1950) is a former Democratic member of the Kentucky State Senate, representing District 27 from 1993 to 2015. He served as President Pro Tempore from 1997 to 1998. Blevins resigned on January 4, 2015, to become the Rowan County judge-executive.[1] Blevins served in the Kentucky House of Representatives from 1982 to 1992.
Biography
Blevins earned his B.S. from Morehead State University in 1972 and his D.M.D. from the University of Kentucky College of Dentistry in 1976. His professional experience includes working as a dentist. He served as a Captain in the United States Army from 1976 to 1978.

Blevins won re-election in the 2012 election for Kentucky State Senate District 27. He ran unopposed in the Democratic primary on May 22, 2012, and defeated Tony Downey (R) in the general election on November 6, 2012.[3][4]

On November 4, 2008, Blevins was re-elected to the 27th District Seat in the Kentucky State Senate, defeating Richard White (R).[5] Blevins raised $62,630 for his campaign, while White raised $24,081.[6]
