Walter F. Timpone
Walter F. Timpone is a former justice on the New Jersey Supreme Court, serving from 2016 to 2020. He was appointed by Governor Chris Christie in April 2016.[1] He was confirmed by the New Jersey State Senate on April 25, 2016, and sworn in on June 2.[2][3] His appointment ended wrangling between the governor and the state legislature over the seat, which had stood vacant since 2010.[4][5]
Timpone retired on August 31, 2020, 10 weeks before his mandatory retirement date of November 10, to allow his senate-confirmed replacement Fabiana Pierre-Louis to join the bench for the September court session.[6] To learn more about this vacancy, click here.
