Campaign themes

2016

The following issues were listed on Christopher's campaign website. For a full list of campaign themes, click here.

  • Jobs: Economic Development: Warren knows that innovation, private-public partnerships, a strong public education system, raising the minimum wage, and lowering the federal corporate tax rate through the removal of special interest loopholes, are the best ways to attract and keep good paying jobs. Warren also knows that building roads and bridges through a private-public partnership program called the Infrastructure Bank and modernizing our schools by enhancing our brick and mortar structures, athletic facilities, and information technology platforms, will help put people back to work.
  • Education: While some of the schools in Maryland's 4th Congressional District are performing exceptionally well, according to US News and World Report, of the 27 total Prince George's County high schools, the average math and English proficiency level is below the national average. In Anne Arundel County, schools are overcrowded and in dire need of brick and mortar modernization. This is unacceptable, enough is enough—we deserve better than unequal school funding and insufficient funding for career and technical training.
  • Veterans: With our troops returning from deployments all over the world, too many of our veterans in Prince George's County, Anne Arundel County and across this great nation are unemployed, underemployed or homeless and in need of quality medical care. Lieutenant Colonel Warren Christopher (US Army Retired) knows we must find ways to increase employment opportunities and increase access to affordable housing. Warren recognizes that we must be vigilant to improve the lives of those who have honorably served our Nation – both men and woman.
  • Seniors: Warren knows that Social Security and Medicare are vitally important to our seniors and will work to ensure the sustained success of the programs. We must not overlook, however, other critical needs of seniors in the 4th Congressional District. Therefore, Warren will fight for an increase in social services.
  • Leading with Women: Warren understands that when women succeed, America succeeds. Warren will be an advocate in Congress. He will work to close the pay gap, support women small business owners, and ensure access to fair and affordable reproductive health care. Warren will fight any legislation that threatens to reduce the rights of women and will partner with members of Congress to enact the Paycheck Fairness Act.
