Warren William Eginton was a federal judge with the United States District Court for the District of Connecticut. Eginton joined the court in 1979 after being nominated by President Jimmy Carter (D). Eginton assumed senior status on August 1, 1992. His service ended on October 7, 2019, upon his death.[1][2]

Early life and education

A native of Brooklyn, New York, Eginton earned a bachelor's degree from Princeton University in 1948. He earned an LL.B. from Yale Law School in 1951.[1]

Military service

He served as a lieutenant in the U.S. Army from 1943 to 1946. He also served in the U.S. Army Reserve from 1946 to 1973, attaining the rank of lieutenant colonel.[1]

Judicial career

Eginton was nominated by President Jimmy Carter on June 5, 1979, to a new seat created by 92 Stat. 1629. Eginton was confirmed by the U.S. Senate on July 23, 1979, and he received his commission on July 24, 1979. He elected to take senior status beginning on August 1, 1992.[1] He was succeeded in this position by Judge Robert Chatigny.
