As a Christian conservative who has been married to a Registered Nurse for 34 years, I have always lived in eastern NC. I am a retired career law enforcement officer with two grown children and four grandchildren. I hold degrees in Criminal Justice from James Sprunt Community College and UNC-Pembroke.
  • Protect the sanctity of life and insure a quality education for every child.
  • Do not infringe on the second amendment rights of North Carolinians.
  • Lower taxes to inspire home ownership and business growth.
We must insure clean water & air while working to provide accessible & affordable health care for all North Carolinians.
Elected officials should conduct themselves beyond reproach, as citizens expect them to be honest and straight forward. Elected officials should extend a listening ear to all of their constituents and not just special interest groups. Elected officials should never think they are above the voters that voted them into the office they hold. Honesty and integrity is a must of all elected officials.
That I selflessly served others without regret.
As a native of Duplin County (NC), my very first job was in the tobacco field. I 'barned tobacco' from my pre-teens until I was 17 years old, at which time I took a job as a short-order cook in a locally owned diner.
No. I think state legislators need to be in touch with the people electing them to office while having the education and experience to conduct the business of the state. It is my honest belief that most voters in the 21st Century are eager to elect non-politicians to public office; they are ready to be represented by individuals that have the same work and life experiences they have.
The greatest challenge faced by North Carolina is the explosive growth of our State as more and more individuals move here for the weather, quality of life, waterways, mountains, and centralized location on the east coast. Our state legislators must be more and more forward thinking in the area of transportation, education, health care, and infrastructure.
Having served as a law enforcement officer on the coast of NC, I have a strong desire to serve on the House Select Committee on Disaster Relief. The State & Local Government and Transportation committees are also of interest as I think my constituents in New Hanover County would be best served by my service on those committees.
