Five ballot measures were certified for the November 4, 2014, ballot in the state of Washington. Four were approved, and one was defeated.

Two of the measures were Initiatives to the Legislature, and both were related to firearms. Two others were non-binding advisory questions that asked voters whether to uphold or repeal two tax-related bills. The final measure was an Initiative to the People that addressed education.

Washington's 2014 legislative session ran from January 13, 2014, to March 14, 2014. The Washington Legislature did not place any referred measures on the ballot.

Twenty-four other measures, all Initiatives to the People, were proposed for the 2014 ballot. However, only one initiative, which addressed education, filed signatures by the prescribed deadline. For both Initiatives to the Legislature and Initiatives to the People, a minimum of 246,372 valid signatures were required to put measures before voters. January 3, 2014, was the petition drive deadline for Initiatives to the Legislature. For Initiatives to the People, campaigns had until July 3, 2014, to collect the necessary signatures. Proponents of veto referendums were required to submit 123,186 signatures by July 11, 2014. However, no signatures were submitted.

• Between 1995 and 2013, an average of five measures appeared on the ballot in Washington. Therefore, 2014 was an average year, based on the number of certified measures.
• In both 1997 and 2010, there were nine measures on statewide ballots.
• Between 1995 and 2013, 59 of 102, or 57.84 percent, of Washington ballot measures were approved.
• Conversely, 43 of 102, or 42.16 percent, of statewide measures were defeated between 1995 and 2013.
