The Washington Notice of Use of Force Measure, Initiative 1384 was not on the November 3, 2015 ballot in the state of Washington as an Initiative to the People. If approved by voters, the measure would have done the following:[1]

  • Required any law enforcement agency in the state to post a public notice on its website when any of its officers has a use of force incident
  • Required that at a minimum, the notice include the time, date and location of the incident

Initiative Measure No. 1384 concerns use of force by peace officers.

This measure would require every general authority Washington law enforcement agency to post a notice on its website whenever one of its peace officers uses force, including at minimum time, date, and location.

The ballot summary was as follows:[1]

This measure would require that whenever there is a use of force by a general authority Washington peace officer acting in the capacity of his or her duties, the Washington general authority law enforcement agency employing the peace officer must post a notice of the use of force, as defined in the measure, on the agency’s website within seven days, including at a minimum the time, date, and location of the use of force.[2]
