Elections for the Washington State Senate consisted of a primary election on August 19, 2008, and a general election on November 4, 2008. Washington state senators serve staggered, four-year terms and half of the senate is scheduled for election every two years.
Qualifications
Section 7 of Article 2 of the Washington State Constitution states, "No person shall be eligible to the legislature who shall not be a citizen of the United States and a qualified voter in the district for which he is chosen."
