Ballot title

The ballot title for Referendum 1 was as follows:

An act to establish a retirement fund to be used in payment of annuities and benefits to retired teachers, principals, supervisors, supervising principals and superintendents of the public school in the State of Washington; creating a board of trustees; defining the sources from which said fund shall be raised; providing for the levy of taxes and regulating the collection, management and disbursement of said fund.
