The Voter-Approved Tolls Initiative was an initiated state statute proposed for the Washington ballot on November 8, 2016. Signatures were not filed by December 31, 2015, and the initiative did not appear on the ballot.

The measure would have required that new highway or bridge tolls be voter approved and require that tolls be used for "highway purposes." It also would have required that tolls be consistent and uniform and that toll revenue would be used for project-specific expenditures.[1]

Initiative Measure No. 747 concerns transportation-related revenue.

This measure would restrict use of transportation-related funds and gas-tax-funded or toll-revenue-funded lanes, require voter approval of new bridge or highway tolls, prohibit variable pricing, and end tolls when project costs are paid.

Supporters were required to submit at least 246,372 valid signatures per version. If certified, initiatives to the legislature would have been sent to the state House and Senate for consideration. The Legislature would have chosen whether to enact the measure, send it to the 2016 ballot alone, or send it to the ballot alongside an alternative proposition.
