The Washington Use of Public Resources for Political Purposes Measure, Initiative 1385 was not on the November 3, 2015 ballot in the state of Washington as an Initiative to the People. If approved by voters, the measure would have done the following:[1]

  • Prohibited commingling of political funds with funds collected by means of a public resource
  • Subjected violators to penalties

Initiative Measure No. 1385 concerns use of public resources to collect money for a political purpose.

This measure would prohibit use of public resources to collect money for political purposes, prohibit commingling of political funds with funds collected by means of a public resource, and subject violators to penalties.

The ballot summary was as follows:[1]

This measure would prohibit use of public resources to collect or help collect money for any political purpose, except to conduct an election or prepare, print, and distribute an official voters’ pamphlet. The measure defines “public resources” and “political purpose.” Persons or entities violating this measure would be subject to penalty by the Public Disclosure Commission, and no public employer or government entity could thereafter collect money for any purpose for such persons or entities. This measure was sponsored by Tim Eyman, M.J. Fagan and Leo J. Fagan. Supporters called the measure "Taxpayer Protection Act 3."[1]
