A Washington Vehicle License Fees Cap Measure, Initiative 1323 was not on the November 4, 2014 statewide ballot in Washington as an Initiative to the People. The measure would have capped the majority of state and local vehicle license fees at $30 per year, excepting taxes approved by voters and voluntary fees. The measure would also have done away with motorhome vehicle fees based on weight and required the retirement of certain outstanding bonds.[1]

Initiative Measure No. 1323 concerns motor vehicle charges.

This measure would cap most state and local vehicle license fees at $30 annually, except for voter-approved taxes and voluntary fees, eliminate motorhome vehicle weight fees, and require retirement of certain outstanding bonds.

The official ballot summary read as follows:[1]

This measure would cap annual vehicle license fees for motor vehicles with a gross weight of 10,000 pounds or less at $30, except for voter-approved taxes and voluntary fees; eliminate motorhome vehicle weight fees; and require regional transit authorities that pledged certain motor vehicle taxes as security for bonds, to retire those bonds, if authorized, by March 31, 2015, and to discontinue such taxes after that date or upon bond retirement, whichever occurs first.[2]

Supporters were required to collect at least 246,372 valid signatures by July 3, 2014 in order to land the initiative on the ballot. No signatures were submitted by the deadline.
