Recall supporters
The recall effort was initiated following a 6-3 vote by the school board to implement a busing program to reduce racial and economic segregation within the district. Supporters of the recall effort said the busing plan destroyed the concept of neighborhood schools, gave less control to parents, would decrease parental involvement, and would lower the level of teaching.[3][4]
