An effort to recall Waymon Hamilton and Craig Swancy from their elected positions on the city council of Weatherford, Texas was launched and abandoned in May 2012.[1] Hamilton serves as Mayor Pro Tem while Swancy is a councilman.
Background
Tawni Maughan took out recall petitions against both Hamilton and Swancy. Maughan ran against Hamilton in 2008 and 2012 and was defeated both times. Maughan was attempting to recall Hamilton and Swancy under their term of office that began in 2010, but the city clerk said that term officially expired with both officials' re-election on May 12, 2012. Maughan would have to wait until November 13, 2012, to attempt to recall Hamilton and Swancy.[1]
