The signature filing deadline for candidates wishing to run in this election was June 3, 2014. Incumbent Chris Lee was unopposed in the Democratic primary, while Wayne T. Hikida was unopposed in the Republican primary. Lee defeated Hikida in the general election.[2][3][4]
