Campaign themes

2014

Hikida's website highlighted the following campaign themes:[1]

Supporting the Traditional Family

  • Excerpt: "The basic unit of society is the family. We must seek ways to support and sustain the family unit. The strength of our State and our Nation is directly correlated with the strength of our families."

Kupuna and Keiki

  • Excerpt: "We have an obligation to take care of our Kupuna and Keiki. We need to make sure that our children have the necessary tools and training to succeed in this ever changing world. We must provide our seniors with the resources they require to live healthy and happy lives."

Fiscal responsibility and Accountability from our State Government

  • Excerpt: "This should be our top priority. As individuals and families, we all live with our means and save for the future. State Government should be no different. We entrust our politicians with our hard earned tax dollars, and we have a right to expect that we are getting our money’s worth."

Public safety

  • Excerpt: "Our families should be able to live in our homes and walk the streets of our communities without the fear of crime and illicit activities."

Agriculture and Small Busniess

  • Excerpt: "Farmers and ranchers know best how to grow our food. Government should let them do what they do best so they can produce and provide our food. Small businesses need to be given incentives to grow their businesses. We need to help small businesses thrive without over regulation."
