My name is Wayne Yevoli and I am running for State Senate, District 20, in the Albuquerque NE Heights. I am a Professional Engineer and own a small engineering firm here in Albuquerque. I have over thirty-seven years of engineering and design experience, including design from conception through construction document preparation and observation My specific areas of expertise include heating and cooling systems, ventilation, specialized exhaust systems, domestic plumbing, medical gasses, fire protection, and site utilities. I have been a LEED Accredited Professional since March 2009. My Professional memberships include: American Society of Heating, Refrigeration, and Air Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE); National Society of Professional Engineers I am running for State Senate because as I have spent my professional career looking at the great New Mexico vistas wondering why we are not prospering like our neighboring states who do not have natural resources like New Mexico. As a business owner, I am tired of over regulation, struggling to keep my doors open, and struggling to do business here in our state. I know our state has potential for greatness and prosperity, but without more commonsense voices in Santa Fe, it seems we will continue to flounder. I want to be part of the future and a better New Mexico.
  • Tougher Crime Laws

As a future State Senator, addressing the crime crisis will be my top, urgent focus.

We need to get criminals off the streets with a combination of reinstating bail, remanding repeat criminals to jail while awaiting trial, and approving longer sentences with less reduction in time served. Most convictions are reduced to approximately 60% of time served.

In reviewing the proposed legislation from the recent Special Session, I strongly support holding repeat violent offenders accountable and harsher penalties for fentanyl dealers.
  • Repealing the Gross Receipts Tax Our current tax code has often been described as “Swiss cheese” because of the continued one-off attempts to fix and provide exemptions within it. I believe we must seriously look at rewriting our entire tax code and repealing GRT (Gross Receipts Tax). I believe that maintaining fair, transparent, and predictable property values and balanced taxation is essential for fostering a healthy business environment in New Mexico. I oppose transfer taxes. I favor repealing the GRT and reviewing the recent tax changes
  • Bringing Education to the Forefront Currently New Mexico is rated 51 behind Washington DC. This is unacceptable for a state where we have three national labs, and robust university research facilities. We need to end the social promotion of children from grade to grade, passing the problem on to the future, so we can build our workforce. We need to have a vision and require parents, teachers, and administration, all involved in promoting the learning experience. Legislatively we need to have a tough educational policy that promotes learning and excelling as part of our educational process including empowering parents, supporting data-driven and evidence-based programs, focusing on literacy, and ending social promotion.
Address public safety thru border security, stopping NM's dangerous sanctuary policies, ending catch & release, supporting 2A Constitutional rights, ensuring violent, repeat criminals stay behind bars, & harsher penalties for fentanyl dealers.

Strengthen our economy by eliminating gross receipts tax, reducing over-regulation, supporting small business owners, & creating new jobs.
Invest in critical infrastructure improvements by supporting behavioral & mental health care, roads, schools, parks, & access to critical medical providers.

Improve NM's child well-being outcomes by empowering parents, supporting data-driven, evidence-based programs, focusing on literacy, & ending social promotion.
I am a man of integrity which means I live by the Four Virtues of Stoicism -- wisdom, temperance, courage, justice
My family and I watched all the Cape Canaveral rocket launches, starting when I was seven years old.
The Art of War by Suntso
The Absolution of Man by C.S. Lewis
The Legislature should be listening to the people, understanding the needs, and putting forth bills to meet the needs.
The Governor should listen to the Legislature to approve bills that make it to the Governor's desk.
Without more economic development, the New Mexico state budget will start to shrink.
Yes. The entire premise of a citizen legislature as one our forefathers gave us was to build relationships to understand the diverse nature of our constituents.
The Legislature should oversee any use of emergency powers.
