1. In Kansas, Marshall wins GOP Senate nod, Watkins becomes sixth House incumbent to lose renomination

2. Trump ties with Clinton for most federal judges through Aug. 1 of a president's fourth year

Donald Trump has appointed 202 Article III federal judges through Aug. 1, his fourth year in office. Tied with President Bill Clinton (D), this is the second-most Article III judicial appointments through this point in all presidencies since Jimmy Carter (D).

4. Minneapolis voters will not decide police department removal charter amendment in Nov.

The measure was proposed after a Minneapolis police officer killed George Floyd on May 25. The proposal would have removed all references to the city's police department from the charter and made the city council responsible for establishing and funding the new community safety department.
