1. Chocolate Chip Cookie wins Ballotpedia's Holiday Cookie election

Votes were tallied using a ranked-choice voting system. In the final round, Chocolate Chip Cookie narrowly beat Sugar Cookie, 143 votes to 134.  

2. Thirty-six states allow someone other than the voter to return a mail-in ballot

In these states, voters can designate someone to return a mail-in ballot, or people who have a specific relationship with a voter can return a ballot on the voter’s behalf.  

3. Following recount, Boston City Council election decided by a single vote

This year, 112 elections within Ballotpedia’s coverage scope were decided by 10 or fewer votes. The Boston City Council election was one of 14 decided by a single vote.  

4. Trump administration misses 2-to-1 deregulatory goal in 2019

Right after his inauguration, President Trump instituted a new regulatory policy that requires federal agencies to eliminate two old regulations for each new regulation issued. A federal office found the ratio of significant deregulatory to significant regulatory actions in 2019 was 1.7- to-1.
