With 38 filing deadlines remaining, 2,557 major party candidates have filed to run for the U.S. Senate and House of Representatives in 2020. That figure has grown by 210 in the past month.
Presidents have issued 14,215 pardons since 1902
Since 1902, presidents have issued 14,215 pardons and 6,557 commutations. This data was taken from the website of the U.S. Department of Justice, which includes information dating back to 1900. Our data starts with 1902 since that's the beginning of the first complete presidency using this information. Also, these numbers do not include instances of mass pardons such as in 1974 when President Gerald Ford (R) pardoned those who evaded the draft during the Vietnam War.
Wisconsin’s 7th District held primaries for upcoming special election
In addition to last Tuesday's primary election for a seat on the Wisconsin Supreme Court, voters in the Badger State’s 7th Congressional District decided primaries in the upcoming special election for a vacant U.S. House seat.
Two candidates—Tom Tiffany and Jason Church—appeared on the Republican ballot, while Lawrence Dale and Tricia Zunker ran in the Democratic primary.
