Voters in five states—Alabama, Louisiana, Oregon, Tennessee, and Vermont—will decide constitutional amendments that would change language in their respective constitutions regarding slavery or indentured servitude as criminal punishments or as payment of debts. Monday’s Brew featured a list of the major voter participation deadlines taking place between Oct. 9-15. Friday, Oct. 14 was the deadline for voter registration in Idaho, New York, and North Carolina and the deadline to register to vote by mail in Oklahoma.
