The question on the ballot:
SHALL WELD COUNTY SCHOOL DISTRICT RE-1 TAXES BE INCREASED BY $1,837,327.00 DOLLARS FOR THE 2011-2012 BUDGET YEAR, AND BY SUCH AMOUNTS AS MAY BE COLLECTED ANNUALLY THEREAFTER BY THE IMPOSITION OF A MILL LEVY WHICH GENERATES REVENUE, WHICH TOGETHER WITH THE REVENUES PRODUCED BY PREVIOUS VOTER AUTHORIZED TAX INCREASES OF THE DISTRICT UNDER C.R.S. §22-54-108 IS NOT GREATER THAN TWENTY-FIVE PERCENT OF THE DISTRICT’S TOTAL PROGRAM FUNDING PLUS SUPPLEMENTAL COST OF LIVING ADJUSTMENT, TO BE USED FOR GENERAL FUND PURPOSES, WHICH MAY INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO: RESTORING CRITICAL FUNDING DUE TO BUDGET CUTS; MITIGATING FUTURE BUDGET CUTS; MAINTAINING OR REDUCING CLASS SIZE IN ALL GRADES; RECRUITING AND RETAINING HIGH QUALITY INSTRUCTIONAL AND SUPPORT STAFF; RESTORING DISCONTINUED AND REDUCED INTERVENTION PROGRAMS TO IMPROVE ACADEMIC PERFORMANCE IN ALL GRADES; RESTORING PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMS TO TRAIN STAFF[3] |
Current Statewide
A 2013 statewide measure, Amendment 66, would authorize Colorado to increase taxes with an expected revenue increase of $950 million for school funding.[4]
