Noteworthy cases

Former Attorney General Kathleen Kane

In October 2016, Judge Demchick-Alloy sentenced former Pennsylvania Attorney General Kathleen Kane to 10 to 23 months in jail and 8 years probation for perjury, obstruction of justice, and official oppression. Kane faced a maximum of 12 to 24 years in prison, but asked for leniency because for the sake of her children. Kane also argued that she had suffered enough over the charges and hoped that her sentence would be limited to simple house arrest. In handing down the sentence, Judge Demchick-Alloy insisted on prison time, telling Kane that "a violation of this magnitude and severity is an extraordinary abuse of the system."[3]
