Wendy Duffy
Wendy Clark Duffy was a judge on the Sixth District of the California Courts of Appeal. She was appointed to this court by Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger and took the oath of office on May 16, 2005. She was later retained by voters in 2006.[1] She retired from the court on October 27, 2011 at the age of 60.[2][3][4]
Education
Judge Duffy received an undergraduate degree in English literature with distinction from the University of California-Berkeley in 1974 and later received received a juris doctorate degree from the Boalt Hall School of Law (University of California, Berkeley) in 1977.[1]
Career
Justice Duffy began her legal career in 1978 as a deputy District Attorney in Monterey County. She worked in this position until 1989, representing the State of California in criminal prosecutions. She was also a founding member of the District Attorney's sexual assault prosecution team.
Justice Duffy became a judge in 1989 upon an appointment to the Monterey County Municipal Court by Gov. Deukmejian. While in this position, she helped found the Monterey County Drug Treatment Court and served as presiding judge of the court in 1997 and 1998. In 1998, the municipal and superior courts consolidated and Justice Duffy served as an assistant presiding judge of the consolidated courts for a year. She was then appointed to the Monterey County Superior Court by Gov. Wilson in 1999. From 1999 to 2002, she was the assistant presiding judge. She served on this court until her appointment to the appellate court in 2005.[1]
