Campaign themes

2014

Gabriella's website highlighted the following campaign themes:[1]

Public Education

  • Excerpt: " I am committed to the continued investment in our public education system, including allowing local school boards, administration, and the discipline experts to make decisions with regards to resource allocation and curriculum. Our local school boards, in collaboration with administrators, teachers, and parents, are the best informed and most qualified to make decisions for our children. "

Higher Education

  • Excerpt: "In the legislature, I will work to increase access to our community colleges and the UC and CSU systems for those seeking the promise of higher education, including career technical education."

The Economy and the Environment

  • Excerpt: "I believe there must be a balance between economic growth, protection for employees and the environment, while providing the opportunity and creativity for economic development. I am firmly committed to promoting job creation, reducing unnecessary restrictions on California businesses, and preservation of our special way of life."

Transparency in Government

  • Excerpt: " If privileged to serve you in the legislature, I will continue fighting for your right to know what your government is doing. I will advocate for greater transparency within the legislative process, including increasing and enforcing the length of time you have to review bills prior to a vote."

Social Justice

  • Excerpt: "I support a pathway to citizenship for people who have resided in the state for years, work and pay taxes here, and have contributed to our economy. California must take a lead in crafting immigration reform that is comprehensive and compassionate. I am looking forward to working with the legislature to ensure social justice for all."
