Rev. Wendy Hamilton is a social justice advocate, ordained minister, and a single mother of one. She is running to represent DC in the US House of Representatives in 2022. Rev. Wendy is running to represent DC in the US House of Representatives in 2022 and is advocating for DC Statehood and Universal Basic Income. She's passionate about fighting for economic justice, improving healthcare and education, reforming our criminal justice system, and making sure DC has a seat at the table with DC Statehood.
  • A Universal Basic Income would pay residents each month to live with greater financial security. What would you do if you had an unconditional basic income of $1000 a month? Rev. Wendy Hamilton is running for US House of Representatives and she is the only candidate in DC who believes in universal basic income and its incredible potential to create a more equitable society.
  • DC Statehood has been Rev. Wendy Hamilton’s passion for many years now. Having witnessed many challenges firsthand as a resident, she believes DC has been held as a political hostage of the federal government for too long. As Rev. Wendy continues her work advocating for DC Statehood, she hopes others will join her in her quest to create equality for all Americans by allowing DC residents full representation in Congress.
  • The time has come for a new way of thinking in Washington. This cannot be done by ignoring the needs of the people. Rev. Wendy Hamilton understands that when DC becomes a state, we need forward-thinking policies that will improve the daily lives of DC residents. The city we love is also a district with racial and economic injustice, outdated infrastructure, soaring health care and housing costs, and a draconian criminal justice system. If elected, Rev. Wendy will fight to make sure that DC is heard on the Hill and have a seat at the table in Congress.
Rev. Wendy Hamilton is championing Universal Basic Income, a policy where every DC resident could meet their basic needs and live with greater financial security. She supports universal healthcare and expanding access to mental healthcare services. In our schools, Rev. Wendy supports increased social and emotional learning. She believes every resident deserves adequate and affordable housing. DC’s incarceration rate is higher than any other state in our country. Rev. Wendy believes we must end the mass incarceration cycle by drastically changing how we think about criminal justice reform. She believes in making our police accountable for misconduct, using de-escalation tactics, and judging the performance of police work by the results of partnerships built between officers and the communities they serve. Rev. Wendy is also a passionate believer in Environmental Justice, Ranked Choice Voting, LGBTQ+ Rights, Cryptocurrency, Economic Justice, and more.
