Wendy L. Wexler Horn

Wendy L. Wexler Horn is a circuit judge for the 24th Judicial Circuit Court in Missouri.[1] She was appointed to this position by Governor Jay Nixon (D) on January 2, 2015, to replace Kenneth W. Pratte.[2] She previously served as an associate judge on the court, a position she was appointed to by Gov. Nixon in October 2011.[3]
Horn ran for election in 2016. She was unopposed in the Democratic primary on August 2, 2016. The general election took place on November 8, 2016.[4]
Biography
Horn received her J.D. from the Saint Louis University School of Law in 1992. Before her appointment to the court, she served as a county prosecuting attorney for Saint Francois County from 2001 until her appointment to the 24th Judicial Circuit Court in 2011. She also previously worked as an attorney in private practice in Farmington, Mo.[3]

Missouri held general elections for local judicial offices on November 8, 2016. A primary election took place on August 2, 2016. The filing deadline for those wishing to run in the primary was March 29, 2016. Judges running in a retention election on November 8 had to file by August 23.[5] Incumbent Wendy L. Wexler Horn ran unopposed in the Missouri 24th Circuit (Division 2) general election.[4]

The 141 judges of the Missouri Circuit Courts are elected to six-year terms in partisan elections, except in the cities of Springfield, St. Louis, and Kansas City. At the end of their terms, judges must face re-election.[7]
The chief judge of each court is elected by the circuit and associate judges from among the sitting circuit judges.[7]
Qualifications
To serve on this court, a judge must be:
- a U.S. citizen for at least 10 years;
- a qualified state voter for at least three years;
- a resident of the circuit for at least one year;
- licensed to practice law in the state; and
- at least 30 years old.[7]
