Although Florida holds closed primaries, if all candidates in a race are from the same party, Florida law opens the primary to all voters—regardless of their party registration—in what is called a universal primary. Originally, the supervisor of elections race had four Democratic candidates in the primary and one No Party Affiliation (NPA) candidate in the general election, meaning it was not a universal primary. A circuit court order removed Cynthia Harris, the NPA candidate, from the general election ballot after early voting in the primary had begun. This decision meant that the Democratic primary became a universal primary. Because voting in the county had already begun, votes cast in the August Democratic primary were not counted and the primary was moved to the November general election date.[2]

  • Long lines at early voting centers are a form of voter suppression. Most voters do not have the luxury of standing in line and waiting up to two hours to vote. I will implement appointment-based voting which allows voters to select the time and location of their choice for early voting. This will help parents with children, seniors standing in Florida's heat, and workers who do not have the luxury of waiting in line outside for up to two hours. Of course, the traditional standby early voting will always remain available to all voters.
  • Voting is a fundamental right which should be accessible to all citizens. A Disability Advisory Board will be empowered to audit all precinct and early voting locations to ensure they meet current ADA guidelines and are located on accessible bus routes. Voting locations will also feature accommodations for voters with sensory needs. Additionally, current voting machines have the technology to offer ballots in multiple languages. At a minimum, ballots should be made available in the top 5 languages spoken in Orange County. Currently that list includes: English, Spanish, Haitian-Creole, Portuguese, and Vietnamese.
  • There has been a noticeable absence of the Elections Office at community cultural events, festivals, concerts, and art shows. This lack of voter engagement results in lower participation. The biggest role a Supervisor of Elections should play is engaging the community outside of election season. Engagement results in a more informed and active electorate. When more voters are engaged and involved in the process, the entire community benefits.
Expanding voting access and ensuring that any eligible citizen who wishes to vote is able to do so in the most convenient way possible.
The Supervisor of Elections role oversees access to the right to vote. All our other freedoms and rights stem from this foundation of our democracy. I take this responsibility seriously and will do everything within my power to defend our citizens' fundamental right.
Honesty, Integrity, Compassion, Trustworthiness, and Openness are key characteristics that voters should want in an Elections Supervisor. A good elected official is someone who is willing to listen for what changes need to be made, and then finds new and innovative ways to accommodate those requests. A great elected official is someone engaged with their community and meeting them at their door to hear what their needs might be.
Our current political environment makes the role of Supervisor of Elections more important than ever. It is critical that we do everything we can to elect the most qualified person for that position. We have a lot at stake at the federal, state, and local levels, and ensuring that our elections are conducted with integrity and transparency are essential to combat misinformation or claims of rigged/stolen elections.

To increase transparency, I want to partner with our county's Orange TV to coordinate the live broadcasting of future Canvassing Board meetings. I also want to record and broadcast various segments regarding the voting process and explanations about the roles of various elected positions in our community. I want to implement a community training academy where citizens can enroll in a program that teaches them about the voting process and they can follow how a ballot is handled from the time they cast their vote until it is posted as official election results. I also want to increase public engagement from the Supervisor of Elections office.

Finally, accessibility is a core responsibility for this office. I will create a Disability Advisory Board to audit each of the early voting and precinct locations for accessibility. I want to make sure that each polling site is accessible for voters with mobility, visual, and neurodiversity issues. Additionally, I will ensure that every location is on or near a bus stop. I commit to having an early voting site located within a municipality for local elections. I am committed to offering ballots to voters for the top 5 languages in Orange County. We already have the technology in place, so it is only a matter licensing the languages for those ballots.
I am a two-time cancer survivor. This has taught me a lot about strength, determination, and perspective. It has also taught me a lot about gratitude and service. I got into politics because I wanted to ensure that nobody else had to experience what I went through. Throughout my journey, I have come to love and be passionate about giving others the tools they need to find and use their voice—especially the ability to vote. It is so rewarding to me when I help someone registering or voting for the first time.
The Supervisor of Elections has a great deal of influence on a voter's access to early voting. The number of polling sites, days, and hours all fall to the discretion of the Supervisor of Elections. Electing a Supervisor committed to ensuring maximum access for all voters is essential.
Yes, success requires an understanding of how government functions and the key officials involved in the planning and budgeting process. As a former county employee, I have established relationships with all of these officials, as well as a thorough understanding of how the process works.

The budget for the Supervisor of Elections is public record. Maintaining public confidence in the election office's management is crucial as a responsible steward of taxpayers' funds. I have already expressed to the County's Comptroller that I would like a full audit of the office done following the election. This will establish a baseline of operations for our community, and I am open to regular audits to ensure optimal management of the office's funds and assets.
