Wes Jones is an attorney, community leader, and writer who cares deeply about people, public safety, and the Wendell community.

Please list below 3 key messages of your campaign. What are the main points you want voters to remember about your goals for your time in office?

• Let's keep Wendell SAFE! We need good sidewalks, intersections, roads, and lighting. Will work closely with police, firefighters, and EMT!
• Let's keep Wendell THRIVING! Our infrastructure needs to keep up with our growth. And high-quality restaurants, retailers, and homes are a must!
• Let's keep Wendell BEAUTIFUL! More neighborhood parks and a connected Greenway. Investment into our charming downtown and classy architecture of new developments.

What areas of public policy are you personally passionate about?

Pubic Safety, Infrastructure and Transportation, Commerce, Housing and Parks.

What qualities does this office possess that makes it a unique and important part of the state government and legal system?

Wendell Town Commissioners chart the course for one of North Carolina's fastest growing and most strategically located towns!

Who do you look up to? Whose example would you like to follow, and why?

Among human leaders, I'd like to follow Teddy Roosevelt's example of living a life of strenuous endeavor. I look up to Jesus above all.

Is there a book, essay, film, or something else you would recommend to someone who wants to understand your political philosophy?

What characteristics or principles are most important for an elected official?

Effective, elected public servants prioritize clear communication, discernment in complex situations and internal motivation to carry them through routine decisions, local challenges and emergencies.

What qualities do you possess that you believe would make you a successful officeholder?

Discernment, Tenacity, Emotional Intelligence, and Focus.

What do you believe are the core responsibilities for someone elected to this office?

Public Engagement, Community Representation, Budget and Financial Oversight and Accountability, Strategic Planning, and Regulatory + Statutory Compliance.

What legacy would you like to leave?

I'd like to be known as someone who offers his life and skills to serve and benefit others.

What is the first historical event that happened in your lifetime that you remember? How old were you at the time?

When I was six years old I remember watching the news coverage of September 11th.

What was your very first job? How long did you have it?

I served as an Italian Restaurant host during college summers. My first legal job was as a Summer Fellow for the NC Chamber.

What is your favorite book? Why?

The Brothers Karamazov by Fyodor Dostoevsk. I love powerful, imaginative, and impactful writing.

If you could be any fictional character, who would you want to be?

Batman

What was the last song that got stuck in your head?

Tuesday's Gone by Lynyrd Skynyrd

What is something that has been a struggle in your life?

The joy in problem solving also generates a struggle to be content.

Are there any little-known powers or responsibilities held by this office that you believe more people should be aware of?

Commissioners appoint members to citizen-run advisory boards each spring, enabling community engagement and oversight across planning, appearance, and other town matters.

Do you believe that it's beneficial for holders of this office to have previous experience in government or politics?

Yes! And, I'm grateful to have a background with both.

What kind of skills or expertise do you believe would be the most helpful for the holders of this office to possess?

Legal, government, economic and construction expertise are all helpful for decision making as a Wendell Town Commissioner.

What qualities does this office possess that makes it a unique and important part of the local government?

This role directly represents the public and makes decisions that affect our local population every day!

What’s the difference between a lawyer and a herd of buffalo?
The lawyer charges more.

What are your views on financial transparency and government accountability?

I support financial transparency in government and believe elected public servants and bureaucrats must be held responsible for their actions.
